The Adventure of the Dogs

Writer: MeeraMeera

The experience of being a dog during wintertime is a wonderful opportunity to experience and try out many activities and even sports.

The different things they could experience ranges from their owners taking out their pets to play around in the snow in parks to walking, running around and overall having a good time, to sledding and skiing along with them on high slopes. Which sounds crazy at first, I thought so as well! Though it is indeed true. Though threading through such harsh weather requires some equipment and clothing, especially for short-coated breeds, to avoid the risk of hypothermia (which is when the body loses heat faster than it can produce heat) causing a dangerously low body temperature.

You must be cautious whenever deciding to traverse through cold areas without the proper gear and so does your dog, so make sure to bring along a few coats and warming pads and equipment such as those to assure survival and that no sickness can infect you or your dog.

Although, not all dogs must go out into nature and freezing cold areas to be entertained. Many dogs spend time indoors to stay warm. You can keep them entertained with toys, training, or indoor games. There are also many other activities your dogs could participate in, such as ‘nose work’ which is when you hide treats around the outside snowy environment and have your dogs smell and try to locate them. The moisture and added interest could provide a more enjoyable and unique experience as well as improve your dog's sense of smell.

All things considered, make your dogs (and pets) feel happy and joyful, share your time with them because they will reciprocate with joy, support and friendship!
