Christmas Stories from All Around the World
Not all Christmas stories are the same. Christmas is not just about a man wearing red and giving presents. There are lots of cultural traditions like Christmas markets, Krampus from Austria, La Befana the witch from Italy, Yule Lads from Iceland, and unique foods like sheep’s head in Norway or Bûche de Noël in France. Alongside these, there are widespread customs like decorating trees, singing carols, and leaving treats for gift-givers, often with regional twists on Santa Cla

PARLI ITALIANO?
This time of the year we all like to look back at what we've done so far and sort of make a recap of everything. Well, so did we! One of the amazing things our school had going on was a week's exchange visit from some pupils and teachers from an Italian school! They spent some time in our school, hosted by our formidable Year 6 and their from teacher Ms Lisica, and also travelled through Zagreb and Croatia to do some sightseeing. Once they left, we asked them to look back at

LEARNING TO TEACH
Our school has long been a place of learning for teachers, too. Perhaps some of you don't know it, but our teachers also learn. They keep learning and developing their teaching skills so that they can provide us with better guidance. However, Bright Horizons is often also training ground for interns - teacher trainees who come from all over the world to learn about the job first hand. We guess no college or university can ever prepare anyone for all the unpredictable question

COOKS & HOLIDAYS
We have kept a little report about Cooks for Books, our fantastic school event, for this holiday season, as both of them have something to do with cookies and stories. Don't you agree? Holidays are always filled with delicious food we share with out loved ones, and a lot of time is spent watching Christmas movies, sharing family stories, reading some picture books under warm blankets, and when we get back from the break - we have so many stories to tell each other! WINTER POEMS BY YEAR 2
As you probably know, we have winter shows for families and friends every December. Sometimes pupils sing, sometimes dance, sometimes, do a skit and sometimes recite poetry. This is a rare thing, however . our Year 2 wrote their very own rhymes for the show. Last year they did phonics, this year they learned how to rhyme and do poetry. This is what they came up with, on their own, in pairs and with a little bit of help from their teachers Ms Hollo and Ms Ashley. Some rhyme, s

FROSTBITE
Here's some poetry for these cold days... Feelings of the day so unbearably cold, This story is starting to get old. The moment you open up the door; The painful frost hits instantly once more. Taken far from my safety, filled with trepidation. It’s not just me, seems that the freezing dread has taken over the entire nation. For not a single soul bears a true, warm smile. Thinking it’ll get better, living in denial. Treading the ice-covered ground, an endless walk in sear

CHRISTMAS RIDDLES
Here are some winter riddles we found in various resources for you! See if you can riddle them out! Where will you be able to find the nine reindeer? What kind of pictures do elves take? THE BIGGEST BIRD?
When most people think of dinosaurs, they imagine giant reptiles like T-Rex or Triceratops. But what surprised me during my research is that dinosaurs never actually went extinct, at least not completely. Scientists say that modern birds are the direct descendants of a group of dinosaurs called Theropods, which were two-legged carnivorous dinosaurs. Fossils of species like Archaeopteryx clearly show both dinosaur and bird features like feathers, claws, and long bony tails. T

TIME-TRAVEL, ANYONE?
This was like time travelling! Field trips are the best! After having studied cave paintings and life in neanderthal times, Year 3 went for a visit to the Krapina Neanderthal Museum and were left breathless and speechless at what they got to see there! Here is what Year 3 had to say about it: My favourite part of the trip when we were making clay art because it was fun and we got to choose the animal M. My favourite part of the trip when we saw the baby T-Rex skeleton!" A. My
