Our Year 6 had two Italian encounters this year. Just before the winter break they had some Italian visitors in their class (check it out here: PARLI ITALIANO? ), and last week they had the chance to go to Italy. This is what they had to say about it...
Where did you go, when and who accompanied you?
We went to a primary school in Assisi, Italy. Every day after school we went to some parts of Italy with Ms Grgić and Mr Necmeskal. it was really fun and we ate different foods, like ice cream, pasta and pizza. We saw different views and beautiful statues and everything...
You stayed at an international school in Assisi. How is their school routine different from ours?
They have 3 lessons a day and we have 7 lessons, but they have either 1 hour or 2 hour lessons, meanwhile ours are 45 minutes. The lunch in our school is 2 lessons before school ends and they have it as their last lesson. They have 20-25-minute breaks in between lessons and we have 5 minutes in between. Their school starts at 8 and ends around 1:30 and ours starts at 8:30 and ends at 3:10.
Did you meet some of your Italian friends who were here in Zagreb? How was it?
Yes, we did. We played games during class and we also played ball outside. It was fun!
What did you know about Italy before this trip and what have you learnt?
Before this trip I knew just a bit about Italy, for example - that the food there is good and I knew just some stuff about the history of Italy. Now I've learned much more about the history and culture and the traditional foods of Italy and Assisi.
Let's talk about food! What's the best thing you tasted in Italy and why?
Everything was great! We loved the Margherita Doc pizza, carbonara and bolognese.
What's your favourite memory from this trip and why?
Our favourite memory was when we went to the park and we played volleyball with everyone and it was really fun and chaotic. Our other favourite memory was when we were flying back to Zagreb and we were at the airport, and Issa and I bought something... really nice ice-cream... Nina was so happy she couldn't stop smiling.
If you could time- travel on a field trip, what time would you travel to and why?
I would want to go to 500 BC to see how I was before...
I would go to the 2026 ski trip to stop myself from breaking my leg...
I would want to go to the New Year' of 2000 to see how it was...
If you could travel anywhere in the world for a school educational trip where would you go and why?
OK, so I guess I would got Singapore for culture and tradition...
I would go to Egypt for ancient views and history...
I would go to France to try snails and go to the Louvre...
I would go to Japan to try sushi...
I would go to the USA for the candy...
I would go to Australia to see the Great Barrier Reef and that's it.
