We are so proud that this renowned school has decided to publish Slavko's letter on their website and we are grateful to Slavko for his permission to share this with all of you! Student Experience: A Heartfelt Letter from Slavko, Recent Summer School Participant

11 Aug 2024

As we bid farewell to over 100 international students over the past five weeks, we received a heartfelt letter from Slavko, a student from Croatia who spent two weeks with us and departed on Sunday, the 4th of August. After reading through his touching words, we immediately sought his permission to share the letter with our entire community through this blog. It’s one of the most wonderful messages we’ve received this year, and it truly uplifted our entire staff. It was an absolute pleasure having Slavko with us, and we hope all our readers enjoy his letter below as much as we did.

Dear Professors and Staff of Whitgift School,

At the beginning of my summer schooling, I could not have imagined what lay ahead of me. You have taught me not only the academic material but also valuable life lessons. When I first arrived, I met new people and got to know their personalities. Each class had students whose words and actions have left a lasting impression on me. Order, hard work, discipline, and friendship were the guiding principles in our classes, but as we neared the end, friendship and warmth prevailed. The atmosphere in our classes, on excursions, and during free time was always welcoming.

As I stand at the crossroads of this chapter in my life, at the end of my summer school experience, I feel both happy and proud. However, above all, I feel the deepest gratitude towards all of you.

Firstly, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks and respect to Mr John Chisholm, the Course Director, without whom I would not have had this opportunity. I would also like to thank the professional staff of Whitgift School for their wonderful personalities and optimism.

Thank you for your support, your creative ideas, and for helping us bring them to life, creating the best possible atmosphere at the school. I will always remember your efforts, the beautiful moments we shared, and the life lessons you taught me. You have shown me that not everything can be learned from books; some lessons must be experienced "on our own skin".

All good things must come to an end, and you were there with me through every situation.

In the end, you have taught me the most important lesson of all: to learn in life with my head, heart, and hands.

Thank you once again for your generosity and kindness.

Slavko
