Our very own synchronised swimming champion! Helena swims for Zagrebački Sinkro Klub (ZSK) and this year, won the first place and gold medal at Croatian Cup state competition among 60 competitors from Croatia.
We asked Helena a few questions to find out more about her passion for synchronised swimming and how she achieves her goals. Here's what she had to say.
How long have you been swimming? How long have you been competing?
I have been swimming for 3 years and competing for 2 and a half years.
What makes you passionate about competitive swimming?
I find it a beautiful sport. I really enjoy doing it. I love music and dance, so this sport is perfect for me.
How often do you train and how many competitions do you participate in in a year?
I train every day - sometimes for 2 hours, sometimes for 3 and a half.
Besides swimming practice what other preparation do you do for competitions and to keep your fitness up?
I stretch at home, I also eat healthy and I do workouts.
What are your other interests?
I don't have other interests.
How do you balance school work, your social life and being a competitive swimmer?
Easy - I always do my homework and I somehow make it. Honestly, it's a bit tiring but I manage.
What advice would you give someone who is passionate about swimming competitively?
To just do your best and give 200% on every training or practice.
What is your long term goal when it comes to swimming?
To get scores higher than 7.1 and to keep winning 1st place. And to try my best.
